Just received this notice of my good friend Mary's passing. Mary and I both lived in the Oak Park area while attending Sac High and after. We also briefly worked together at the White Front retail store at Florin Rd and Stockton Blvd and did ride sharing when our schedules were the same. Mary lived in Orangevale the time I was Postmaster in Orangevale (1992-1997) prior to my appointment as Postmaster in Rancho Cordova, Mary and I would keep in touch, meet for lunch, and share issues with her work. My dad and her mom were also friends. We also looked forward to meeting at our most recent reunions and gatherings. I will miss her smile and the wonderful person she was!!

Very saddening news. At our last two gatherings we had spoken together about her ongoing battles with cancer. A very blunt subject that I like many others have a very personal affair with..........though my melanoma issues have remained silent. I did not know her that well back in the day.....but found her directness and honesty about her issues valuable in assessing what is important to each other. It was not fun and yet it was so purposeful to know ones battles and appreciate each day..........and our wonderful Class of 63 gatherings. GOD Bless her soul. I know so many can express more personal memories and how you so much enjoyed her. Thanks, for listenig Jerry

I got acquainted with Mary at Sac Hi through some classes we had together. Since we both had "S" last names we were often placed alphabetically close to each other. Although I didn't know her well I was always greeted by her with a warm smile and we'd talk about whatever teenagers talked about! I remember and admired her for her warm and friendly personality. My sincere condolences to her friends and family. Rest In Peace, Mary.

I just came upon the announcement of Mary Slunecko's passing. My thoughts and prayers continue for her family and loved ones. Mary and I had classes together at Sac Hi. She was a good classmate and acquaintance. Her bright smile and warmth to all touched many. I am sorry she had to battle cancer. I imagine she did it with much grace. May God comfort each of you with His grace and peace.
In Remembrance,
Martha Jeanne/Marti Kercheval Parnell

So sorry to hear of Mary's passing. She was fun and a sweetheart. We met in the 7th grade at the old Sutter Junior High School on 19th and K. I remember her family won a Thunderbird car in some contest.
She was very down to earth and kind. The last time I saw her was at Sara Parrish's memorial.
Rest in peace Mary. You will be missed.
