Heartbreaking news to hear about Tom leaving us. He was a true warrior in the capital defense community. He was passionate and a dedicated lawyer who fought for his clients. He was a force to reckon with in the courtroom.  Your colleagues and clients will miss you and your immense talent. Love you Tom.

THIS MESSAGE WAS SENT BY JOANN (GROSS) DAHL:

"My reason for finally logging on after so long was reading the message about Tom Nolan's passing.  So sad!  He was my boyfriend and we went to Senior Prom together.  We got in touch with each other about 3 years ago and got caught up on each other's lives.  It sounded like he had a really good life and he sounded very happy. My thoughts and prayers to his wife and family members."

Here is a link to the recording of Tom's memorial service: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1iTs6SaBUB9sG4h9MRhwgaXSFcBdU16tA

The service was held at Stanford University where Tom had taught a class in Advanced Criminal Law Practice for 25 years. My thanks to all of you who helped me prepare my comments about Tom's early years in Sacramento, especially Bill Roehr, Janet Nunn Feil, Dottie Bisig Ballew, Brian Fletcher, Rick Sanders, Joann Gross Dahl, and Jack and Patty Nissen. Here's a Jack London quote that was in the program that I especially love and thought appropriate for Tom:

  I WOULD RATHER THINK
                           MY SPARK
          SHOULD BURN OUT
 IN A BRILLIANT BLAZE . . .
              I WOULD RATHER
    BE A SUPERB METEOR,
         EVERY ATOM OF ME
   IN MAGNIFICENT GLOW,
                 THAN A SLEEPY
AND PERMANENT PLANET.
