Marlene and I became friends when we were about 6 or 7 years old. She lived around the corner from me, so we got together often to play. We went through grammar school (David Lubin) and part of Jr. High (Kit Carson) together. Then part of our Jr. High class went to Sutter, and we were devastated that we were not in the same school. At Sacramento High we resumed our friendship and kept in touch through the years. Our boys went to Christian Brothers together. We had a wonderful chat at our 40+1 reunion. I remember her sweet personality, and I miss her!
I, too, attended David Lubin Elementary and KC Jr High and THEN Sutter Jr High and remember Marlene (and Charmion) mostly from our elementary days. We were in the same Brownie troop for awhile but my clearest memory of Marlene was her hula dancing. Lovely! And how proud of her big sister she was when she participated in the Miss Sacramento pageant.
